– TURN OVER A NEW LEAF –

celebrating 20-years

Let turn over a new leaf be your guide

If iT's good, it will stand the test of time

It’s been twenty-years since we started writing ‘Turn Over a New Leaf’ and so much has happened in our world in that time.
Vegans then were considered a little odd among their friends and wacko by everyone else. As far as the general population, this probably hasn’t changed that much, but something is happening because Australia is third in the world in people converting to veganism, which from our point of view is great because some of them will get to experience our book and all the important information in it. Yes, the revised version of ‘Turn Over a New Leaf’ is still very popular and is selling well, with the addition of a constant trickle of our books going overseas.

Di and I have been vegans now for twenty-years, ever since we started writing the book in 2000 and still following the plan in the book, with the addition of all of the salads in ‘Get your Salad Together’. Real Food Power for Kids came along in 2006 and has proved to be a winner for home-schooling and a project book for mothers who want to get the children interested in healthy food. Then Vega and the Magic Apple for toddlers a picture storybook and video for toddlers. We have covered the needs of the whole family; Vega provides great entertainment for your toddler or grandchild.

if you are considering making this lifestyle change, you will not regret it

I still can’t get my head around the fact that I am in my seventies now and feel better than I did when we started. I am convinced the lifestyle changes we made back then are the only reason I’m still able to live the same active life I was in those days. My golf has actually got better and we walk about six kilometres daily, followed by an hour’s workout.

We are living proof that if you are considering making this lifestyle change you will not regret it. There’s nothing better than being in your seventies and being able to do all the things you were doing in your forties. Neither Di nor I have any of the pain suffered by most of the population these days, as a matter of fact, neither of us take any medication and haven’t taken a pain pill for over thirty-years.

There is so much scientific evidence these days to support plant-based eating that we no longer have to try to convince people that it’s good for your health. Despite this, there seems to be a number of major factors stopping a much larger percentage of the population converting. We have spoken to many people about this and have listed the five most common:

“Where do I start”

“How do I know what to what foods to prepare to give me a balanced diet”,

“Where do I get all the ingredients and how much do I need each week”.

“I am not a confident cook and have no idea what to do”.

“What will the food taste like, won’t it be boring”.

don’t take my word for it, give a plant-based diet a try

In ‘Turn Over a New Leaf’ we have answered all these questions and more. We guide you through every facet of the process of becoming a vegan, showing the foods you can and can’t eat, how to prepare them in the simplest most efficient way. The Turn Over a New Leaf food plan has been designed to provide a completely balanced diet that provides your total nutritional needs.

The book has a weekly shopping list with all the ingredients for the week and where to shop for them. There is a full, easy to follow explanation of how to prepare and cook each dish with all the shortcuts, plus instructional videos on the website on a large number of the dishes. Most important of all, you can impress your friends with your new-found culinary skills because every dish is delicious.

If you have been wondering what to do to really improve your health, don’t take my word for it, give a plant-based diet a try.
